Damita L. Bryant, MD joined Nashville Neuroscience Group in 2018 and has since assumed the role as head physician in the practice. Dr. Bryant brings with her over 20 years of expertise in the treatment of neuromuscular diseases and chronic pain conditions, including migraine. Dr. Bryant is originally from New York City and received her medical school education at Albany Medical College and her post graduate training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation from the renowned Robert Wood Johnson – JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute in New Jersey. Dr. Bryant also received her Physician Executive-Masters in Business Administration from The University Of Tennessee – Knoxville in 2005.
Dr. Bryant has been in the Middle Tennessee area since 2008 and spent her first 10 years treating chronic pain syndromes – including head and neck pains. She has extensive experience in minimally invasive procedures such as Botox injections and peripheral nerve blocks to treat chronic pain. Dr. Bryant has also served as the principal investigator in multiple clinical research trials for migraine.
Dr. Bryant is a current member of the National Headache Foundation and the American Headache Society. She is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as well as the American Board of Pain Medicine.

Jan Lewis Brandes, MD, MS, holds an appointment as an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Neurology at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, Nashville, Tennessee; she is also the Founding Director of the Nashville Neuroscience Group, a private headache clinic in Nashville, Tennessee. Prior to attending Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, where she subsequently earned her medical degree, Dr. Brandes attended the Robert Koch Institute of Virology, Free University, in Berlin, Federal Republic of Germany, as a Fulbright Scholar. Her postgraduate medical training was completed at Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she served as chief resident in neurology. She also holds a Master of Science degree in microbiology from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. She is certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners, The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, the National Board for Certification in Headache Management and is UCNS certified in headache medicine.
Dr. Brandes has been active in clinical trials for more than two decades. She has served as the principal or co-principal investigator in more than 100 studies, primarily examining issues in migraine including acute treatment, prophylaxis and menstrual migraine. She has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals including JAMA, Cephalalgia, Headache, and Lancet Neurology.
Dr. Brandes is a Fellow of the American Headache Society and the American Academy of Neurology. She is a former member of the board of Directors of the American Headache Society and is the past-president of the American Council for Headache Education. In recognition of her professional endeavors, she has been named to Best Doctors in America from 1996 through 2020.
Dr. Brandes has been a full-time clinical investigator and women's health neurologist for more than 25 years, having just recently retired from clinical practice. Teaching and lecturing nationally and internationally on numerous women's healthcare topics, her primary interests are headache medicine, including hormonal influences on migraine, from menarche to menopause.

Scott Curran, PA-C joined Nashville Neuroscience in early 2020. He works closely with Dr. Bryant and received specialized training from Dr. Bryant in headache management. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Louisville in 2010, and graduated near the top of his class from Bethel University's PA program in 2018. Scott brings his background in primary and urgent care to the table in order to treat migraines while considering the patient's overall health.
